For some reason I had a hard time writing this poem... But here it is! If you see any improvements to be made, feel free to share them.

Yesterday was both the birthday of a friend, and the second anniversary of when I started to really write poetry...

The sun rose this morning
Just like any other day
In its gorgeous way,
But there is something special
That makes today different,
A unique event

For it was on this day
Today many years ago
(How long you should know),
You came into this world
And began life’s journey
Towards eternity

Since then you have touched our hearts
Through the life you’ve been living,
And joy you’ve given.
I’d like to bless in return,
And your gifts to repay
In a special way

Repay? No, I can’t repay!
But with the hope that somehow
I could bless you now,
I pray God’s blessing for you,
Pray that He’d guide you, and say,
“Have a happy birthday!”
