Sweet Oasis of My Heart

I stand in the middle of the
desert strong but alone.
I'm a thousand miles
from my happy home.
My parched lips thirst
for the sweet taste of
you in the morning dew.
Days pass and the heat
is almost too much to bear.
But the palm fronds have
precious shade to share.
A fig tree becons to me
to satisfy my hunger
and I do and still my
heart yearns for the
tender touch of you.
You are the sweet
oasis of my heart.
Silky thoughts of you
will carry me through
until we are
no longer
apart.
