It’s Almost Past Midnight It’s almost past midnight beyond our dreams, So far it seems almost like morning here. The hours drifted away tonight As I walked with you in another light. I listen in the darkness To a harp and a flute on Spanish rivers, And hear hard rain on the old roof Of the empty house I once lived in. Now there is another song to sing Since I met you, as the music begins To draw me closer to your heart Even though we cannot dance tonight. Why are we so close and yet so far away? Yet your love was just enough for this rainy day To dry my tears, and here I’ll stay until Our flowers bloom in that distant day. I feel you here and I am with you there… Beyond words, beyond my present cares, Inside your heart I’ll still remain Until we finally meet again. WP Will Patrick |

Oh goodness, Will, I am certainly going to enjoy reading you!! Ed was right...you can write romantic poems. This part of your poem reminds me so much of my Honey-Love. We lived in apartments on Baker Ave and we had a house on Richmond about halfway up the hill... of course, that was when there were still a number of orange groves in the area.
