“M’lady...the iron is hot upon the hearth
as  I wait the setting moon.
For, of thee I stir in hobbled heat,
restless to quell this yearn that smolders
within.....come, share my warmth.”

The missive had arrived, by messenger
the lad, disheveled, upon a horse, wrought
with froth from the mad ride,
a maid had brought it to her
now, it fluttered in her hand, with life
he had said, he would let her know
                     when to quit this castle
                     for his,
but he did not know of her father's health
he could not know, this was not the time.

                                     she reads..

”A hunger to dine upon softness of  flesh rising
before the wane...to savor the
delicate fragrance of a rose, prior to
the summer’s wilt...All this M’lady, all
this....and more...await thee..
beyond the meadow green…”

oh, to go to him, to escape the confines,
but her father, her poor father, so close
to death, and so against her love,
                      whose heart must break
                      before love might be hers?

                           She continues to read...

”Soon...dawn tears the still blanket of night
my love.  Soon I shall bask the glow,
yes ... soon I shall.  As silken light shall grace
the window’s sill, a gentle breeze will
stir the sash...  Then, only then...
shall thy dreams, born anew...hold me
in thy sight.”

Tears began to stain the page
ink smearing like a heart's quick bleed
where was her quill, her ink, the salt?
                                  Where, was her heart, indeed?

                 With him.

Oh, with him, who melt the winter's snow
him, for whom the flow'rs burst
oh, Him, from whence her breath would come
Him, for whom she'd walk the earth.

Beyond the door, the old man called,
"Dear Heart, bring me my brew,"

and stopp'd she was, from thinking more
and stooped, she rose to fetch his needs
for her father had raised her
                       alone in hand
no wife was by his side
and alone, for she was his seed.

What say you, Good Magnus...
shall we delight the Cap'n with yet
another missive?

Do you suppose your white horse
is rested enough
to make the journey?

Beautiful; sad; yearning, and tragic.

You have captured it all well.

Excellent write.

Thank you both.

(big hugggsssssssss) Is there any limit to the wonderful chivalry in both your hearts? (smiles) This is a colorful and extravagant duet, sweet friends, are you sure you two aren't from the medieval times, hehehe, this is wonderful, we all love you so much! You have such beautiful hearts, sweet Barry and Lady In White, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you both!

I command my heart be still, lest it be heard trumpeting throughout the land with the reading of such captivating poetry...
