Lone hawk soars in troubled sky.
Ciccada think it dusk--they cry
beneath the shadow of gray cloud.
With urgency,
the Mother's need,
ending of expectancy--
birth this storm, its thunder cries.

I weep.
(I keen within the sound)
muted by the roll of drum,
bite the cord of life--undone--
bound by knot to spare my blood
rest this wrinkled life on breast...
I pray I have the sustenance.

Cold in shadow of gray cloud,
oil lamp fed by the fat,
Dante's shadows mock the walls
I count my seeds and hone the blade--
the warrior shall hunt again--
pondering my weaponry
wondering how to slay a cloud...

oh trust me...you have the sustenance baby...that and so much more.

No matter what the differences
No matter what the cost
When words become our weapons ...
All that's beautiful is lost.

goodness girl...this touches something I know, such an edge you carry...slaying a cloud should be easy...it just takes a little rain.  It's making rain that isn't easy, at least not here.

If anyone could slay a cloud, you could! Your mind is sharper than any sword!

Another great write!

k,

Hawk knows
what damage can become
under grey cloud
when storm is done

It is on the edge
she hunts
and keen eyes the ground
there victims found

"I count my seeds and hone the blade--
the warrior shall hunt again--"

...and too, the Huntress make war...

I guess one should always be aware of what you might be holding in your hands.

I'm wowed by this! An excellent piece of writing, the way you weave the strands of imagery into a single whole. And a great poem to read at 04:30 local.....

ya know...

take a slice of cloud
a few stars
a dash of breeze..
and some mushrooms and you have a divine
omelet...

I keep finding these little buried treasures,
that I somehow let slip past me the first time around...

"I weep.
(I keen within the sound)
muted by the roll of drum,
bite the cord of life--undone--
bound by knot to spare my blood
rest this wrinkled life on breast...
I pray I have the sustenance."

Karen...gawd, lady...this is an amazing write.
It reached in and grabbed something inside of me.

Yes...echoing JM...yes...you DO have the sustenance..

Love you, lady.
