when the castoffs arrive I ask for a little leg and they usually oblige otherwise the wine wouldn’t be so forthcoming I feel no shame exploiting these seedy characters to my own purposes if it wasnt I that was doing it it would be someone else who has less imagination than myself sometimes we break furniture just for a laugh or for a prelude to the real damage which not even our livers can bear to witness my belly folds over itself in the diverse arrangements it takes on but none of them seem to mind they have their own faults which I don’t call witness to it is something of a mutual agreement that doesn’t get much press or airtime and that is how we like it here in the basement where the lower levels of the gene pool swim comfortably in the pond scum and the man who controls the light switch levels it all a curt dismissal that he reserves for when the past comes calling from the floodgates despite the self destruction inflicted that was supposed to annihilate those memories of brighter times forever |
