what are you doing to yourself?
whatever you can
there are destinations
that are not revealed
until you’ve overstepped the boundaries
of the cliff
by then
reflections
mean very little
however
before I get that far
Id like to take a few moments
to intersect some life
with my spiraling corpse
flood my senses
with a little fairy tale actioneering

I plan on enjoying the fruits
of my inheritance
glutton myself on the sensuous wines
and melt down some wax
from around the curves of flattering wicks
before someone checks my qualification card
and sets the reality to something less
remarkable
luckily
I am still two steps ahead of the dust
unfortunately
I am many years behind the polish
there is beauty all around me
and so I never feel like my seat
at the banquet
is secure
maybe that is why
I have such a hard time embracing it

tonight
I need to piece together
a future
free from need
of creatures that have no need
(only a use)
for me
