We bought then
The necklace of Roman Gold
From the old Christian who sold jewels
out his front door while he lived
In back with his wife and two.

He had shown us inside
And fed us wine from his own cellar
As his wife had prepared the bread for stew
And told us tales from his days in Rome.

I loved watching your eyes as rapt you listened
And asked of peoples dress and food
Then in eager hunger would lean toward the tale
As if a child being read those 1000 tales.

When alone that evening
You let the cool links of gold hug
The curve of throat and medallion lie
Just in cleft of breast then laughed at the shine
In lamp light saying it made stars
On your skin.

I loved your happiness then
and knew this treasure
Would someday be replaced with another
But for now it suited you and the color of rose
That flushed your shoulders and you were
The stars and heavens whole.

It was when you sat at my feet
And lay your head in my lap that I touched its glow
But feeling only the warmth of your neck and knew
No treasure of earth could compare
And I was
Happy
Just to be near.

Let the pages lay open
for just a while
I want to smell the ink
and feel the parchment
a little longer...

I'm loving the tenderness of these, Cap'n... an interesting contrast to the fire and grit of your Lacey series... Both demonstrate your incredible talent... but I just keep highlighting stanzas these days... Love it!

Ron, I was lazing about outside..
'catching a few rays' as we used to say..
and this feeling came over me..
there was something more interesting..
yes, far more interesting inside, here in Passions.
I was not disappointed that I left my warm spot in the sun
to come inside for a peek.

And...this...this is beautiful!

Ahhh, now I can go back and worship the sun just a little more..
Thank you hugs, Nancy.

Oh, Ron.  How can it be so perfect?  It is your heart that knows this and through words, mere words, you share your vision of perfection.

Beautiful.

Now see, I had to leave Passions last night and look what I missed.  Too bad I don't have a beeper with message "CPAT Hair just posted.  Find PC immediately."

This is a story written with beauties own pen, it had a peaceful and calming feel as I read each line, I felt the love and respect within and I enjoyed.
Thank you for that, very well written.

Sincerely
Rick

Cpat~  This is exquisite, and damn, if my eyes aren't watering.  Your poetry goes above and beyond the endless motion of rhyme shcemes and pieces of broken hearts..... You  never, ever fail to move me in a gentle sweep.  Your talent is endless, and YOU are quite something Sir~  *Bravo*

So, you've traded in that ol' pick-up for a camel.

Only the geography changes my friend.
And that changes nothing.
But...would we change a thing?

like I said before, I've got my camel hair bikini in my travel bag
and am looking around for that little golden bejeweled wash basin

I love this series, Ron. I can see it on papyrus, all rolled up with a tiny golden tassled ribbon, scented with aromatic oils.

Ron,  I felt as though I were there.  This
is exceptional,  constructively...I think I
would remove a cap or two that the word
processor automatically threw in on ya..
I have that same nemesis from time to time.

Your flow of words is awesome,  a part of
your style that amazes me.
