People often told me- There are those who need the words, You write when you are thinking, Your writings must be heard... But they were wrong, I'm thinking For something vibrant went... After I had published, That same poetry in print. For poetry, like heartbeats, Counts only in the now. One can't live on yesterdays, At least I don't know how. Like life, it loses freshness. And I fear becomes blase`, For here and now are all we have, The same with what we say. So I will write, the crumple, The things I've written down, And like the things of yeasterday, Then toss them to the ground. The only thing worth reading- Is what is on our minds, The searcher keeps on seeking, And the seeker never finds. |

I'm not sure I took this poem the "right" way, but the way I read it, I disagree. I think that poetry and writing are forever... They are always being read anew and it doesn't matter when they were written. I don't believe that poetry fades. But I did enjoy your poem, it was very well-written. I simply disagree with its point. But very nice job! .Echo. |

John, your words have staying power... each person who reads them experiences the thoughts and idea that you did...just at a different time and place...that in no way negates their impact...keep writing and sharing with us.. believe in what your heart feels... |

I also have to disagree with the point of this poem. I believe that each person who reads a poem takes away something from that piece. A new insight or a thought that it provoked. That is timeless my friend. Marilyn. |
