Memories lie in dust and cedar,
locked away in attic keeper.
Bound in weather'd grain of leather,
penned in ink on tip of feather.
Paused, I stand at top of stair
in thoughts of love and beauty fair.
Dare I key this fastened lock;
open up what heart doth block?
Instead I drown these thoughts in rye
Lest I find that memories lie...

My poison's slightly different... but visiting memories can be tough. *S*

Rum becomes an anesthetic
To convictions of pathetic
Searching for friends on the phone
Don't want to spend this time alone.

I enjoyed the read, Edder! *S*

Edder:

this is awesome!
It just sings . . .
bittersweet as it is but
yes I agree
kind if like a little Pandora's
box of your own . . .

I really enjoyed the cadence and imagery in this poem--as well as the gist of it.

I can still envision it all as I write this reply!

Warm hugs,

This is lovely...love the depiction of inner turmoil--warring against the self between desire and safety.

VERY nicely done!
