Once my heart was heavy,
So I took it out and put it carefully
In the bucket there,
Once my tears grew too many
So I hung my head and cried endlessly
In the bucket there,
Once my soul was weary
So I opened up removing easily
In the bucket there.

The bucket has grown full of cast off me
As I empty it into the salty cold sea
Then rinsing it all out to fill with sand
To build a castle with my own hand
That will only briefly built be
Till tide returns the sand to the sea.

So in the moments before the sun
Sea stroking beach devour has begun
And in the rising of a day
And fast falling of the night
Ends moonlight’s play
With light.

So I rise to leave the clinging sand
With an empty bucket in hand.

Gloom

"The bucket has grown full of cast off me
As I empty it into the salty cold sea"

Much preferable than lugging that stuff around with ya.

hmmm.

*eyes twinkling*

Ouch. I just realized what I typed. Smacking myself in the head.

Thanks--I needed this.

A gentle reminder it is too--and your sand ocean metaphor is rendered nicely into cycles and the ephemeral quality  of life.

Well done.

PG...I love the whole idea of these lines,
as well as the accompanying images that came to mind.
Wonderfully penned, poet sir.
