The irony was
a little too much
to take and I had
to put her down

Holding the life
of a child in my hands
while my own slips
through my fingers

Wide eyes bright
with innocence
staring into mine weary
with experience

How I love her
beyond words
for all the things
she is and I am not

If only the innocence of a child stayed with us.

sometimes the contrast is just too much--and then there is the awareness of knowing what lies ahead for them too...

you've got me thinking through the ache Raph.

Raph sweety - I am glad you have that light in your life but God yes I do understand
all too well.  I try to keep Billy
not - seeing but seeing - you know?
I can only do that for so long and this write God how your eyes see this world in such light - it quite amazes me - makes me think you see on a level that you never lost . . .

So young and precious - full of life - I wish I had what my son does and not what is handed to you as an adult - I want to go back to NeverNeverLand and believe again.
Somewhere along the lines, I lost it.

Brilliant piece - trust me she sees you
clearly and sometimes we can build on that
xxoo

Give her your heart and how much you care; she does not need to know all of what got you there.

This is a wonderful poem.  Thank you for sharing it.

Raphael, this one is so special.

Yes, the life of a young one seems so pure and good, and is full of possibilities. We, on the other hand, seem so cynical next to them. But we can be as innocent at heart as these little babes, coz we were once as pure as they came.

Raph~  We can't shelter our children from the big bad world, nor should we pretend to be perfect.  Simply being there and loving each other goes a long way.

Be happy you~

First let me say that veronica is my cousin not my child, that i wouldn't wish on any child. It's simply the sense of beauty, the sense of life i get whenever i see her and how my own thoughts ultimately come in to cast a shadow over the moment.

Thank you Ethel

Maree yes if only..hugs

Thanks James

Yes K exactly and I'd rather not think about what lies ahead for them

Thanks Jason know you do

Sue I understand and I know how hard you try..and..i wish you a safe return to never never land as long as its not Jackson's ranch we're talking about

ice thanks but eventually they all find out don't they? But yes best to live in the moment

Mon Cherie I wish that was true and I'd like to believe that but i think short of total release aka insanity we can never return to that state..never purely

Hugs H true with all relationships i suppose

Blues..hap..py never heard of that is it like some new slang word or something..grins
