Lip to lip
The gnarled twist a watch
The sound of birds in dumpsters
A switch from etiquette of nature pure
Cement benches cold within the warm
I topple like some ancient messenger
Upon the grass where I would lay me down
A blanket and a basket of prefer

All caught up and lost in up and down
The path the map the looking to be found
I see how intricate the fixing of time
So sudden without notice
It is wasted wanting only to be rhymed

Catch me now   oh cloud
Your lip is full

I see you watching me over the top
The ridge is hung with your humidity
And I am now a drop

Lip to lip
I drink the feathered feel
Of wishes held in solitary quill
Now like you
I explode with heat and curl
And lean against the curve
That makes me real

Come to where
only some of the land
is flat
and where the other parts
swell...
and the sounds you need
are on the wind...

Martie - a song's melody you write. One day I'll sing you a song of a lullaby...

I love this. The way you take the inward life of Martie, say it in its own language, and yet make us feel and even see it....just beautiful.

No reason, nothing to expostulate, except that I just felt like quoting the most delicious lines.....

World class modern poetry, Martie.....especially the ending.
Mystery and clarity at the same time,
indeed, excellent....ice
