Trees The slender birch, the sturdy oak the ginkgo and the chestnut tree, from rain and wind in cold of time, all spread their arms to shelter me. In the hot summer months their leaves, give me protection in their shade. Their cool perfection beckons me from heat of day the sun has made. The mountain ash, the pine, the fir, the cedars standing in a row, all carry bird nests in their boughs and hide them from the hawk and crow. The shades of green, the reds, the golds, combine in perfect harmony. Magnolia, maple, golden rain, no thing more lovely than a tree. By: Joyce 7/30/03 |
