I Am….No Rose

you are a bigger fool
than I anticipated
when will you understand
that I am kisses of the earth
just ordinary but beauty
runs deep under sight
a little rain has brought me up
standing tall and regal
yet, time finds me
standing alone
what is this fear you face
from petals that are simple
these are fragrances from the sun
continually you pass me by
searching the rose and lily
for once stop, look
really look
tenderly hold this face
I am no rose it is true
yet, sturdily stalked
and looking ahead
when others wither
and turn their backs on you
I will always follow the sun
and it is true I can see it
the center is a black collection
but once you come closer
you will see that
behind each dot in this ring
contains a tiny seed
a champion of new life
waiting to explode tomorrow

and yes many more flowers supercede the rose . . .
