I thought I knew myself
But when I looked in the mirror today, I saw someone new
Perhaps it's all the changes I've been through
Maybe to the real me, I'm going to finally be true

All I know is, I'm not going to be sad anymore
I think that the time has come, to finally be free
Things won't happen all of a sudden, this I know
But maybe now I can finally live for me

People don't understand my reasons
I begin to wonder if even I understand
Why is it, the harder I try the more I fall
Sometimes life slips through my hands, just like sand

I know in my heart something is changing
In the mirror today, I saw a difference in my eyes
Perhaps I'm finally tired of the excuses I make
I'm just sick and tired of all the lies

I hurt so many people, but I'm finally forgiving myself
I'll do what it takes to win back their respect and trust
I know that my family loves me
But I also know they deserve more, not less

There is a stirring in my soul
Something I've never felt before
Finally I can let go of all this bitterness
And walk through a new door

My name is Amy and I'm just this girl
If you look deeper though, you'll see more
You will see someone who is desperately trying
I'm trying to let my soul soar

I now know it's up to me to make the changes
The old way will not ever work again
Instead of worrying about everyone else though
To myself, I'm going to be a friend

"love is like a butterfly--
if you chase it,
it will surely fly away,instead
hold it close and watch it grow into
something beautiful"

I know in my heart something is changing
In the mirror today, I saw a difference in my eyes

I have always liked what I've seen,
in both you and me.
Perfection is more, and nothing less!

Amy....it's so good to read you here.

Thank you all for your encouraging
replies. I'm kinda going through a bit
of a rough time now, though nothing to
be too concerned about. I am glad that I
have a place I can go to post my feelings
with people who care. Thank you all again
for your time, and your warm comments.

Take care.
