Oleanders adorned with
Bouquets of white,
Pink or peach
Partner with palm trees
To sway in sea breeze
Over rows of angels
Made of granite or brass
Keeping eternal watch
As little ones sleep
Under shelter of wings.
Carved dates
Only months separating
One from the other
Bring inevitable weep.
Gleeful cries of vacationers
Do not penetrate
This place of peace
That seeps such sorrow
For lives as short
As their tiny graves.

suthern...there are places like this in most cities, in the middle of life, death...Sad, yet with the quiet of peace.  You painted it so well!

One of the shortest poems
I have ever seen from you,
but so poignant, and so
touching...

thank you.

Oleanders...

they grow in CA, too...

I have felt the very same way, but you, dear heart, expressed those feelings and observations through your graceful poetry.

Loves 'n hugs,

So hard just to say this pain, let alone find such a beautiful way to express it...Well done, Laura, well done.

Suthern, I visit there often, that place of peace to weep and remember a time that changed my life forever...

Thank you for this poem and the tranquility you inspire~~
