Flesh, what is it?
It's just a body, I inhabit.
I hate it!
I loathe it,
And all the things I do in it.

Am I a child or an adult?
Make up your mind!
I'm 16 how am I supposed to decide?!
I make all these stupid, silly mistakes,
I fail God, I fail my family, my friends, and even the human race!

I'm so confused, I don't understand!
I need a guiding hand.
My parents seem to always ignore and shout
They don't even know what I'm all about!

They get mad when I ask the question, why?
And then they wonder why I want to die!
Sure every one has problems, I know they do
and maybe if they'd listen they'd understand too!

WHy is it, everyone forgets what its like to be a kid?
You say you know but you've done exactly like you thought your parents did!!

I do remember, all to well, being 16....it's a tough time, and am I just like my folks? I don't think so....some things we end up doing like them, other things we change....hopefully for the better....I hope you are ok.

I'm much older than 16 now, but I remember enough to know I wouldn't want to go back there again. No way! It's a time in life when you really are already old enough to make decisions about what you will do with the rest of your life by making decisions about college, and a career. Yet you aren't old enough to drive a car, or go out on dates alone, or given the credit to be beleived in for what you have to say, because of the all time favorite of most adults...you're just to young to know about those kind of things. That makes you feel torn. I remember wanting a car, but wasn't old enough, but I was sure old enough to go to work everyday. Made no sense to me. Anyway..it will pass in time. You will look back, and wonder why did I want all this respondsibility anyway? It doesn't look that way now, but don't rush it..Enjoy your teen years. It will come soon enough. This write sure brought back the memories of all the anxious feelings of wanting to grow up. wow!

Thank you so much for your replys SEA and SharaRose. I know right now I am too young to understand a lot of what its like to be an adult and that makes it hard, but hopefully what I go through now will strengthen me for adulthood. Once again thank you!

Sixteen can be confusing because its a time of transition...a time when you can be easily influenced...hopefully by the right influences...James

I do know and understand COMPLETELY
for I am you at 16 . . .

left alone . . .
with my thoughts
(which were quite twisted at the time
and still are)
Have faith that this is a tough time
and as you grow (YOU)and life comes around to greet you -
one day you will see it all and
understand.  Some of us see it sooner,
some of us never do.
Be good to yourself and believe in you
