I am lost and foundering without my rhyme.
I wonder how you write free verse.
I hear iambics in my mind.
I see rhyming, miming, words in timing. (oops!)
I want to structure each of them
I am lost and foundering without my rhyme.

I pretend to let words freely flow
I feel the need to write a sonnet.
I touch more hearts with my pantoums.
I worry not when penning villanelles
I cry no tears when quilling paradelles (oops!)
I am lost and foundering without my rhyme.

I understand we each have styles to write.
I say that this should surely be all right (oops!)
I dream pentameter at night (darn!)
I try to write in free verse, but I can't.
I hope to meter my next quatrain
I am lost and foundering without my rhyme.

Nan...
I see you there between the lines,
grinning every time you rhyme,
making music rhythm blessed
I wish that I was meter blessed!

Know ye now your rhyme is true,
serenity just follows YOU--
the pitter patter of your "feet"
has helped to free the verse in ME.

Love ya Nan.

This is still delightful.

Leave it to the teach to take the challenge and make it a lesson in both poetry and witty humor of humility...
This is adorable and delightful Nanner-girl
But after reading this I am wondering why you didnt talk in rhyme on the phone the other day?

Take it from one who hears rhymes in her sleep too....
let the free verse set you free...
do what I do...rhyme some of the time..
I call it moth free verse...sneak in some alliterations and you got it. LOL

Nan, I loved this!!!  I loved the way you sneaked (??)
your rhymes in there, and the way you gave us
a lesson in poetry in your poem. I also loved
the little tapping smilies showing us the
tap-tap-tap of the beat. LOL
You are something else, teacher Nan..........

Hugs
Ethel

A tool that can't be put down does more harm than one that can't be picked up....though I have to admit it may build more, unless it's a saw or a machete......

Nice work, Nan -- of course you can do these things!
