How many times can the human heart beat itself against the armored walls of supplication, before it bursts from its own need? Hollow, I have walked absent of greed, these human streets, before paper came from reeds, before leading Bast astray abandoning the underworld, before drawing bronze from stone and iron from the bogs; I gave away the tricks replacing points of flint and fire hardened sticks. I've learned not even time allows me to atone for choices made before the dusty paths were cobbled, hardened against the rains. Today, I find no solace in the weight of memory's chains, the freedom found in dying rings chimes of envy in my breast; I carry what I can having safely cached the rest, knowing every pathway bends back upon itself. ©2003 by icebox |

"I've learned not even time allows me to atone for choices made " I don't think I have even had enough time in my life to make the choices yet. I made one...it didn't last as forever as I wished...now what? Enjoyed your words, and wonder could it have been that bad that your pathways bend back upon themselves? *s Maureen |

icebox "knowing every pathway bends back upon itself." The beginning is the end, the end the beginning? Forever is a circle, I think. Thank you for sharing this honest piece of yourself. |

Icebox, paths bend back upon themselves until love and forgiveness straighten them out. And, yes, it can take a lot of time. I've decided (and are we not the ones to do so) that I've had enough of circles. It's time to move but where to is the question. It seems fitting to post what I wrote yesterday. |

This brought to mind a saying that used to be pretty prevalent back in the 70's --"spinning my wheels" was heard alot back then. I think Alexander Graham Bell tried 798 times before he got it right. That's what I remember everytime I seem to be spinning my wheels. I wonder to myself what would have happened if he had given up. No phone? No cell phones? aghhhhhhhhh I can't imagine. How many times can the human heart beat itself against the armored walls of supplication, before it bursts from its own need? One of the finest questions/writes i've had the honour of reading |

Icy, I love reading everything you do...and what you write always leaves me wanting to mix a couple of drinks and sit down with you and find out what the heck is going on.... Your words seem to reflect such self angst. Susan C. |

littlewing ~ Yes, I have seen a similar thread in some of your work. Thank you for your comment. Honeybunch ~ I don't know an answer for you. The circles of life seem inevitable. SharaRose ~ I could live without phones. Maybe that is a gender thing? *smile* BluesSerenade ~ Thank you for reading my poem. I appreciate your interest and comments. passing shadows ~ *smile* I'll share anything I can. Thank you for reading and for your comment. gemjop ~ Always good to be read! *smile* Thank you. Aenimal ~ Thank you, Sir, for such a nice compliment. Susan Caldwell ~ Well, OK, but six drinks is about my limit; after that, I don't even make sense to myself! *laugh* |
