Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-07-21 10:08 AM

Dry Creek

Dry Creek flooded
the day you died.

It seems that only in solitary
do tears so flow
rushing at odds as hands
won’t stay still

so I unpacked boxes
for a house
that would never hear footsteps
or your chuckle

only those echoes
that would be held
within my own mind
of what you might say

as to where the rose bush was planted

or how the sound of the chimes
would blend well

with hummingbird thoughts.

Dry Creek only runs now
when I trip over
rocks of re-collect-ing.

Karilea...To have a place to go to weep, inside or out, a place to treasure and to keep, is what it's all about.
