Etched in the illusion of time

0 posted 2003-07-20 11:15 AM

Bewitched by the heavy air
Neatly lulled
Gently broken
Twilight weaves its rhapsody of lies

'Round
and 'round

Invisibility is sung
As pretence removed
Not even I can feel the deception

Trees
are delicately pencilled shadows 'gainst a hushed and fading sky
Their penumbras brush the horizon
Tentatively

(Radiantly blackened lullaby)
I can still taste it

The evening is within me
My eyes no longer see sunset
(But the mirrored wrath of azure upon my soul)

Blended with the dusk

One word, one word
Forever echoed, evermore
It is upon my lips
painted by its blues
Eventide

A thousand fireflies exchange vows of secrecy
'Neath the waxing moon
Lights near extinguished
But a few linger
Softly

(Precious dreams of darkness escape from the palm of my hand)

Dare I ask to be crowned with vespers from the night?
Or shall I dwell in quietude?

(I know the way that stars will dance [fighting 'tween dusk and sunrise fair])

And the world is falling apart all around me, as angels sleep
Peacefully
Just grazed by the touch of my fingertips

How I bid you well,
to go and whisper to the dawn
Leaving me here
Quiet

'Tis truly but a beautiful midsummer's eve

For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch,
And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss.--"Romeo and Juliet"
