I feel the ocean in the air
iceplant     wooden stairs
mottled by the birds of summer
down down the toes of warm   the night
swept up by the opening light

Alone  just a slip of you and piece of rock
with pocket filled with lust and sandy trust
listening in your head to the song I left
while tenderly digging and filling up

The surf like lashes of your thought
blinks me drenched with wanting to be caught

Whenever I see your name my smile gets a little brighter.

Martie, it's all good, and even better than that!  You are a wonderful poet in every sense of the word.

QjQ  In this case the iceplant is something that grows on the ocean cliffs here in California.  Still glad I brought back a memory.

Lori--I thank you for saying such a nice thing...and for making me smile too.

Iceplant....

how I miss Iceplant....

and so many other things
of my birthplace...

but how I relish
all that I have in the birthplace
of my ancestors...

you have touched a stone
in this heart...

thank you.

I love the ethereal feel of this, like a wistful, longing dream at the edge of coming true....your daydreams have more of both beauty and reality in them than a lot of people's real lives....

Thank you for letting us see this pretty, private moment.

Martie - lovely words that take me to places I haven't been for a while - my seaside memories are all as an adult  but they are special just as your poetry is always so special - Paul
