Darkness, that is all that I see, Here in the depths of the water, Where fish should swim through my hair, I only hear my heart begin to falter. Lost...I swam too far and too deep, Now I can see no way out, Foolish arrogance brought me here, I was too confident, I had no doubt. Ah but the joyous wonder of it, I thought it would be worse than this, I imagined me kicking and struggling, But instead I drift through the abyss. My mind is swimming with new faces, My body swims and dives like a fish, I am at one with the vast dark ocean, Now I am free from the suffering flesh. But alas in the distance, a weak light, Could it be a craft for my salvation? Perhaps it is the sign of paradise calling, Both options are better than damnation. |

But alas in the distance, a weak light, Could it be a craft for my salvation? Perhaps it is the sign of paradise calling, It's no contest when given the choice to sink or swim! Enjoyed your poem Peter. |
