Plethora The writer’s thoughts hung as generous as heavily laden plums, purpled fruits of succulent wealth and he thought, if his quill pierced the amethyst skin, would his poetry flow like liquid juice? Would they then age like a fine liqueur? And who, eventually, would extract the cork, to discover something rare and fine? |

Karilea, This is outstanding work. A keeper for me indeed. I love the image of the plum, the juice, the wine...to stand the test of time as fine wine locked away in the cellar. I have often wished since I started writing again that I would find my poems from my teen years...to see what pressed me to write 25 years ago and how that literature would stand up today. Perhaps, I shall discover the writings someday. I believe one of your best from indeed a plethora of excellent writings. Patricia |

Your imagination never seems to run dry. You've always got something to say and an interesting way of penning your thoughts. This is a perfect example of just what I mean. Much enjoyed! ![]() The stars will shine when I am gone, |

heavily laden plums, purpled fruits of succulent wealth ___________ Another great plum description...it owuld be interesting to get together all the ways on this board you can describe a plum...maybe williams meant a purple plum rather than a red wheelbarrow...good stuff Mike |

Thanks, everyone! This simple little write came yesterday as I was driving home - and coincidentally - I have some friends who will be moving back to our state soon - so I put the poem with a lovely photo - framed it [as they enjoy wine...and poetry] and will present it to them tonight as a pre-house-warming present [to encourage a speedy return!] and Krawdad? I inspired you? Color me happy! ![]() |

Plethora is one of my favorite words, but I have always wondered why a gaggle of writers will inevitably generate a plethora of thoughts. ![]() |

"if his quill pierced the amethyst skin, would his poetry flow like liquid juice? Would they then age like a fine liqueur?" Hmmm...wonder if that'd work with Fruit Loops, I don't have any plums. ![]() |
