Sunflower Friend

I answered door after three knocks
to find that flowers had been sent,
by Martie, our dear flower girl.
The card spoke of how much I meant.

She knew me ill and sent her love.
She's such a treasure, this you know.
The card sent love from this dear friend
and also love from Mister Toe.

Now, on my desk are sunflowers,
which speak of hope and friendship, dear.
I only wish that she and Toe
lived 'cross the street or somewhere near.

You are three thousand miles away,
yet, so much closer do you feel.
You are more special than you know,
your friendship, unpretentious, real.

God blesses us in many ways.
A blessing, this dear lady is.
She's held me when I hurt the most,
has given me great happiness.

I love you, Martie, dear, sweet one.
Friends like you are so hard to find.
Each one should have a friend like you.
You're so forgiving, truly kind.

I send a kiss and send my love.
I ask that God blesses your day.
Friends do not come better than you.
You know I mean these words I say.

Hugs and much love, sweet friend

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

JaiOfHeaven, I wish you well, some of my greatest friends were made much later in life.   Thank you for reading.

Michael...I am very touched by this poem and your thoughts.  You have been a great friend to me, as well.  Can't loose with a win-win combination like that.

AAAWWW  Michael, this is so sweet. You are just precious...do you know that? And Martie is precious, too. That was so sweet of her to send you some flowers. Like she said, you two friends are a winning combination.

Michael, I'm really glad that you came to see us today. We miss you very much when you aren't here. I miss your poetry and your replies to my poetry. You are always so sweet and compassionate. Thank you for being you.
Heart hugs to you and Martie both

Michael, they say that one can tell the  measure of the man by the friends that he has! I'd say that that says a great deal about you, Martie, and Toe!

It warmed my heart to see your sweet smiling face again!--and the fruits of your pen!

Loving, healing hugs and a rainbow of colored lights,

Linda

For those of you who don't know, Michael calls my husband, Taylor, Mr Toe...because he has had problems with gout.  Not to be confused with our sweet Toerag.  Thanks again, Michael..I just read this to Taylor and I think I saw some moisture in his eyes.   from us both!

What a lovely bouquet of words you have gifted her and her Toe in return.
Gentleness and kindness keep the circle of friendship in motion.

Please get to know her.  I sincerely promise you she'll bless your life and in ways you'll never imagine, both she and Mister Toe.  Praise God for both of these dear friends.  Thank you, Martie, you really are a blessing to me, as is Taylor.  I dearly love you both.
