You returned, a summer breeze to bring warmth to my winter desolation - and brought with you the scent of Wisteria on the vine the hint of Jacaranda rising and the promise of life re-vitalised. I followed you to a place of isolation where the three of us could talk; you, me and the spirit of God and in the silence that grew to heat the spaces of my cold I heard the whispering of hope through the gum leaves - that was echoed in the tinkling of the wind chimes "Come and renew, come away to rest." You listened as I spoke and I poured out my heart in a way I had not done for an age as I may never do again. You showed the light of your spirit and the colour of your faith in comforting my fears and sharing my tears. while the kookaburras laughed us into merriment and settled us down for the night. I had run with the pack devoured by desires I could not control turning my back on all I had believed in until shadows and hollows consumed me, while I wore the cloak of indifference to ward off the chill of hope extinguished. The morning sun shone as we awoke and my heart was changed with the coming of the light; no more did the chill of winter rest heavily on my soul. No more were my emotions clothed by the desperation of no return. You bade me to drink deeply at the fountain of regeneration giving of your spirit freely so that I might be warmed and healed - and I am Thank you for the gift of Christ for the celebration of Christ and for the promise of summer with Wisteria, Jacaranda and the laughter of more than Kookaburras to come |

while I wore the cloak of indifference to ward off the chill of hope extinguished. I know that covering... and I love both the beauty and the inspiration of this poem that tosses that cloak and rekindles hope. *S* |
