Last night at sunlight's fading, ...I walked along a lane, Beyond the reach of city's din, ...across wide Kansas plain, Through fields of chaff from combine's swath; ...rent stalks of once gold wheat, Through fields of grass and flowers wild, ...beneath my weary feet, Until at last, a hidden pond, ...the place of which I sought, To find a log on which to sit, ...to ponder as I thought, Of a day now gone, a day passed by, ...and of a day not yet to be, Alone I sat at water's edge, ...as free as one can be, When before me flew a dragonfly, ...with wings in frenzied flight, Darting, dipping, to and fro, ...in the calm of almost night, I turned my eyes unto the heavens, ...gazed up into the skies, And wondered if someone was there, ...gazing down on dragonflies. When before me flew a dragonfly, ...with wings in frenzied flight, Darting, dipping, to and fro, ...in the calm of almost night, I turned my eyes unto the heavens, ...gazed up into the skies, And wondered if someone was there, ...gazing down on dragonflies. ~*~ I cannot think of how many poets could relate to this... all of us, I think... someone very close to me said, "what if God looked at us through a microscope...." and I have never forgotten her words.... A beautiful poem, Tim. Thank you. |

Hello Tim Your words were simply breathtaking and I felt like I was sitting there beside the pond watching he dragonflies skim across the water. The images presented through your words were fabulous. Take care......Sue I am in motion |
