Restless (On A Rainy Night)
*
Time is now!
A clouds water breaks,
Springing rivulets.
The midwife night
Allows rain from the dam
That brings a sound,
Of rippling.
I hear faint music
But darks-tar
Blocks all reflected,
Shine on my eyes
Of silver drops falling,
(No signs)
Of glitter of,
Millions of baby diamonds.
*
Three a.m. I am typing,
Alone, in-dim monitor
Light writing poetry,
While-others-rest
Nearby, of my waking;
Completely oblivious.
*
Their sleep is quiet,
Deep and peaceful.
Their dream-stirs and breathing
Absorbed by the distance,
Measured in lengths of the halls,
(To where I sit)
Wide awake;
Composing this.
*
Seems as like, they are
(Those lovely breaths) the same,
So quiet like the falling rain
That taps and tears the put up panes,
And sifts...
Like gentle voices through the screens.
*
At half past five, an alarm chimes.
Outside my window, wrens awake
And aim, to chase what wrongs,
Have caused their songs refrain...
And though I yawn,
I'm restless for the day.
*
Outside more dark clouds pass,
Pregnant, low
Foreboding, show
Their ready now to birth more rain.
*
end

hey ice, i haven't seen any of your poems yet, but this one was great. I like your choice in username too. Sometimes I'm more icy than windy...I will look for your work in the future

Oh my...wonderfully written!
I know this feeling...wide awake in the quiet of a storm...writing..writing...
while the others sleep.

Wind...:-)
Thank you for reading this poem..yes, ice and wind do have an alignment, especially in
long Pennsylvania winters...My nic has been shortened from icefishinluvr, I am no stranger to strong winds...

Shadows..:-)
So you have been here, done this also...
I know several other poets that do the same, seems like I am inspired when it happens..if ya can't sleep, ya might as well right..thanks for reading my poem..:-)

Nancy...
Thanks for the "wonderfully written" comment.:-)
Something about night rain stirs the insomnic poet.Your comment line>" wide awake in the quiet of a storm...writing..writing...
while the others sleep" waxes very poetic...

Hi ice

I have been up at that hour too, restless, listening to a house breathing, writing words...I like yours.  I hope you'll be posting something new in Open 28.
