Stories From Grandpa Mouse Come here Junior; sit on grandpa’s knee, I’ll tell you a few stories of my childhood. I had a friend by the name of The Professor and these are some of his tales and a few of my own. We used to live in this big old house, on a hill across town, and the lady of the house would say in her frustrated tone, “I’m tired of that ole pesky mouse.” Into the kitchen to find a mousetrap she would go, slippers a flappin’ and hair a flyin’. She’d knock on the door of that little ole mouse and say, “Dinner is ready.” The spring is set tight already to snap. The rich aroma of fresh homemade cheese would fill the air. The Professor and Gullible would sit and gaze mesmerized by this delicious sight. One mouse, The Professor, looks at the cheese turns with a smile and says to Gullible, “You grab the cheese.” Well, Junior. In this old house there lived a cat and this kitty cat would sit and stare. Pounce, then sit, pounce, then sit, and then he would give that little ole mouse a slap or two. The poor ole mouse gives up the ghost and plays dead as the kitty cat carries him to the lady of the house. Kitty cat spies the next door neighbor, the one who is not sure of cats, approaches with a sweet kitty cat smile and says, “Please be my friend, pretty please, I’ll give you my pet mouse as a present.” As he drops the mouse at her feet. The mouse hits the floor on the run and slides into the nearest hole. The lady screams, the cat says, “Oh! Shucks! Darn ole mouse got away again.” Well! Junior. It’s time for bed. I’ll tell more stories tomorrow, now jump into bed. Lights out. Good night Junior don’t let the kitty cat bite. Bonnie J. |

Great write! You could actually illustrate it and turn it into a childrens book which I'm sure children of all ages would love! Great job, I hope to read more of your work soon! ![]() ~*Summer*~ |

Many many years ago, I was given sheet music at an audition... it was called The Prayer of the Mouse... and I loved the song even though I didn't even rate a "no thanks" from the judges. *G* This reminds me of that... it's delightful. *S* |
