I see every face, not in every dream, not even every night, but I've no doubt each image, frozen in the instant just before it was erased just before the lightning bolt of change ripped it from its life, reclaims its hiding space and tucks away to wait within its own safe resting place, to wait until a moment's weakness, the random opportunity, or just a petty twist of fate, walks me grinning to some easy killing zone. ©2003 by icebox |

Hard, hard but true. Well said, and something that deserves the saying by one who writes as well as you. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

I find myself wishing I could see--until I do. smiles to you i.b. (and yep, you warned me about playing with the weather, too--didn't take long did it? sheesh.) You are quite the mesmerist with word, m'friend. |

I can so relate, but the killing zone would seem a part of our inevitable fate, however tragic the twist. Nice poem cool dude~ |

"just before the lightning bolt of change ripped it from its life" that bit sent a jolting shiver down my spine. damn good sir. The only difference between the creative and the conformists is that the creative will not be conquered and the conformists already are. |

"until a moment's weakness, the random opportunity, or just a petty twist of fate, walks me grinning to some easy killing zone." Isn't it true, as well, that sometimes this is exactly what has to happen to get us OUT of the killing zone? Ice...Ice...baby...your words give me chills...the good kind! Susan C. |

Ratleader ~ Thank you for your kind and supportive comments. Cruina ~ Yes, reality sometimes is a real attention getter. Aenimal ~ ...yes serenity blaze ~ Well, yes, we should always be careful of that for which we ask, whether it is insight or a "little" rain. *laugh* "mesmerist?" You should see it from the other side of a candle and a bottle of wine! *grin* BluesSerenade ~ Yes, no one gets out alive. Thanks for reading my poem. TasteOfOctober ~ That is about as close as I can get to describing what I was looking at and still be comfortable writing it. passing shadows ~ Thank you for reading my poem and for taking the time to comment. Some changes are very swift, yes? Nan ~ You remind me that I have often wondered how poets survived without going mad before the days of cyberspace sharing of their work. Thanks. Susan Caldwell ~ Yes, we all get out of that zone...one way or another. I hope the chills aren't disturbing you. |
