Isn’t it Isn’t it weird, That we have a life ahead of us But all we want is that past? And sometimes it feels as if the pasts in our reach, But then just slips threw your fingertips like a grain of sand. Isn’t it strange, That we can spend our whole life wanting something, And never receive it? But at the same time spend a whole lifetime receiving, And never thanking? Isn’t it ironic, How you can live up to everyone else’s standards But never your own? No matter how hard you try, Or how much you have. Isn’t it devastating, That we are here, living happily And others are starving because of our selfishness? They’re dyeing because we can’t lend a hand. Isn’t it pitiful How mothers can be in jail For trying to feed their children? And murderers and crack heads Run free, claiming the earth as their own. Isn’t it absurd That speaking of the lord is outlawed And saying his name is forbidden? But at the same time, That’s what some people need to survive? What it our world becoming? |

"Isn’t it ironic, How you can live up to everyone else’s standards But never your own? No matter how hard you try, Or how much you have." Ouch! Yes, that is how it is. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to live up to them. Good poem. Thanks for making me think... “We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best that we can find in our travels is an honest friend.” –Robert Louis Stevenson |
