To Write of Nature What of nature can be held on a snippet of paper but frail words that try to hum the sound of a bee? What paper leaf can tumble in the ecstasy of autumn from the edge of a poet’s desk? The eye cannot contain the infinite blackness of night laced with starry pinpoint beams of pleasure Nor can we gather them in a black paper frame and place them in orderly rows of white phrases For there is no poet hand to paint the vast wonders of nature equal to the Hand of God Elizabeth Santos |

Liz, beautiful throughout...I tried to envision what might be the answer at the end of the poem...I should have known it, so obvious, yet it caught me, brought from me a very awesome feeling and I know I will never forget this poem, for the pause it brought to my life...when I read those last lines. Thank You! |
