This was a set made for look alikes
sisters posed one afternoon..in their made to measure outfits
little did they realize they'd outgrow the jumpers soon
from a set of red corduroy jumpers that matched
the years would fill them with fond memories of the soft fabric.

Tiny outfits were complete with pockets for a queen
as new kids on the block, the creation won esteem
see how the jumper is quickly outgrown
be it constructed from fabric carefully sewn
the child begins to choose something else
perhaps it was the color, or the style
and the outfit begins to gain disfavor.

Popularity among garments quickly heightens...
a familiar, comfortable fit soon tightens;
still in the early years, as part of the molt,
once familiar clothes are abruptly discarded...
or stashed behind more recent acquisitions.
A garment is lost after a bout of inquisitions

This was a matching set
parents don't make the effort they used to
we've gone the synthetic way
praise be the scientific sway
that got the girls out of the clothes that matched
and set them on their separate ways that hatched

from handmade cloth constructed for pleasure
it was the matched set that was made to measure.

This brings back warm memories for me. You often do that for me, Dear Writer.

My daughters are very close in age, and they loved to dress alike. They delighted in wearing matching clothes such as sailor outfits of matching dresses, hats, shoes, little purses, and even white gloves for church or social functions we attended!

It gave me so much pleasure to dress them up! They were beautiful living dolls.

I always enjoy reading your poetry. It either fires my imagination, stirs my emotions, provokes thought, or informs--and on occasion, all of the above!

Write on, Dear Ecrivan!
Warm hugs,
EA

Martin, this is beautiful. I love the thoughts you make me to ponder.
Thanks
