Today I sat down, and I thought about writing,
It seems that the well has gone dry.
My memories fading, and nothing exciting,
Or new, that I'm wanting to try.

No romance, nor heartache, just time that is passing,
And passing too soon, I might add.
And debts by the dozen, I'm quickly amassing-
And that can't be nothing but bad.

My days as a cowboy are too far behind me-
No one understands my old life.
I wonder where death, and destruction will find me?
Afar? Or at home with my wife?

When I was a youngster, and living real crazy-
They said I'd not see twenty-five.
My friends and companions, my family have left me,
Alone...I'm still staying alive.

But life, or existence...which one would you call it-
When day by day time's dragging on?
Death would be better, however befall it-
Than going through life all alone.

Write, or go crazy? Those are my choices-
So often, far into the night-
I live in the past, hearing those ghostly voices,
The things that they say, then I write.

So, write, for the future...to purge those old memories
And scribble far into the night.
I guess it comes down to, I've no choice about it-
For me to keep living's, to write.

I LOVE your poetry

"Write, or go crazy? Those are my choices-
So often, far into the night-
I live in the past, hearing those ghostly voices,
The things that they say, then I write
."

PERFECT!!!

..and that's exactly what you need to keep doing.  We are the fortunate recipients! thanks!  I love your cowboy stuff, as I've said before, I always look forward to it.

writing is the doorway to the soul, expressing who you are, your beliefs, and the nature of your entire being...never stop writing...your poetry is awesome.
