Sea Thoughts

Close your  eyes
feel the soft velour
fabric of the sky

wind whipped with children's glee tunes
hushed into the crash of earth water

To walk in sand
is as elemental as the need to dig holes

smooth to shape

feel each grain blessed
then taken back into the play

Down into the bubbled belch of time
is where chimera begins and ends

The kiss of it perfumes old bones

blesses the skin with a thin veneer
of flux and flow      slow turn of moon

like menses of a woman her moods
can strip the skin and make man fragile
then turn his head until he knows

no skin could ever take him there
and leave him spent and heaving air

then
lay him down in pale curve of land ‘til hiss of sun
falling in    awakes the dark

And why not bring it back? ...it's timeless.

Beautiful capture of the mood and of the place. I think I recognize the particular beach, just from the shape and heft of this poem, though I may just be imprinting the wishes I had today onto it. Thank you, Martie, you just warmed my evening.

Oh Martie, you just had to go and tug at my heart strings
....and I love how you do that!

Such a pretty path you forge,
I thank you for these walks with you.

I drove to the beach Saturday, hoping for inspiration... would have done better to just wait for your poem. *S* Absolutely lovely, Martie. S**

LOVE that ocean shore -
A favorite place to be!

You painted this in full
color and penned it well!

Enjoyed!
Blessings!

I think I have said this before.  The ocean is the only real mother I ever really I had.

Your poetry of the ocean soothes me like the waves did.
I went to a near by lake this weekend..needing to be by water...
