Hope & Faith Tell me, please, what is it you see In one’s world of tranquility With a spouse who is all your own What keeps you right there, in your home? Is it but natural desire To keep the flames growing higher? What is it that helps you atone For those swift moments, all alone Do you then loathe your once desired? When feeling life sinks in quagmire, When things don’t seem to go your way Is that when you choose not to stay? Or did you say, “This was my trust,” Then stay the promise, as one must? Tell me please, if one is without When two, less love, what’s that about? Then one’s desires of a life What is husband, to a lost wife? And she to he, when both despair? What keeps them from their love’s repair? Who might say, then, where is the need? Lives will change, without any greed. Divorce may seem a shameful course Though would you stay where love lacks source? When all is tried, but nothing new Would bring a love to swift review Of what, now gone, which once was true, Let go the loss, into skies blue. And then might you believe again Though hope and faith are now and then That your heart find love’s promise, rare, Toward good life, past sweet compare. |

A lesson to be learned through the stanzas here..yet I have chosen to remain single...that the value of love is in the desire to work through mishaps and focus on the positive points of what staying together is all about...is nicely represented |

Do you then loathe your once desired? When feeling life sinks in quagmire, When things don’t seem to go your way Is that when you choose not to stay? Deca - so good to read you again! Deep thoughts to ponder in this one. Yes, some do leave when the going gets tough....others of us choose to stay and grip onto "hope & faith." hugs, Chris |

Deca, Oh, do I know this...And now I am in another relationship much like it. And my true love is out there, blind to what we could be. I hear your frustrated cries. I hear them and cry with you. Patricia |

If one walks away, one needs to do so knowing he or she has given everything they could to make it work. Only then is it justified.... I guess |

(big hugggssssssss) Yes, a lover must give ALL, always, always, always...to justify loves honesty and if not, that person is a coward, but if one gives all and can't satisfy another, that is an honorable feeling! (sigh) God Bless You, dearest friend, this is wonderful we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Decaflame, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story |

It's so good to read your wisdom again, deca. You've been missed around here. But I wonder sometimes whether or not this kind of human wisdom has anything at all to do with love, or is it more about honoring a contract/committment? Don't know, as I've personally not lasted long enough in any relationship to know about 'the long run,' if by that, one means many years and a long lifeline of experiences shared with one significant other. Lots of things to think on=a good write. |

I agree with ecrivan: the value of love is in the desire to work out problems and to forgive each other's follies and mishaps. You just work through it all. That is why some couples are married for 60+ years, really showing off that "until death do you part" line. "There are three things men can do with women: love them, suffer for them, or turn them into literature." |
