http://www.kenyonreview.org/author/darcie-dennigan/ This is the best write up for the Poetry Party that I've ever seen. I saw a poem of hers on the Poetry Magazine web site and fell in love with her voice.. I'm going to have to buy her book. Thoughts or comments are welcome. I will be out of town for a few days starting early tomorrow, but I hope there are others who find her stuff as exciting as I do. Long Live The Poetry Party! |

I appreciate your appreciation, but why is this in philosophy? |

Having gotten back from Buffalo, I’ve just thought to check on my hasty pre-trip posting and I can now see that I’ve inadvertently spread confusion rather than enlightenment. My mistake. I am very sorry. Go to the web site in the initial posting. Click on Laureate. What follows is a prose poem by Darcie Dennigan — she is "the woman who has my vote" for seeing the whole election in terms of language and poetry. The poem is, for me, a wonderful, wacky, witty critique of the the entire political process seen from the literary point of view. That's why I put it in Philosophy, Stephen; because it's Lit Crit; and because it stands back from the entire political process and tries to look at it with some humor from the point of view of Ultimate sorts of issues. Of course, It's entirely possible that anybody and everybody would disagree with me, or, as it turns out, I would in my rush before my trip to Buffalo, fail to make myself clear enough for anybody to have some fun with a wonderful piece of poetry and with a woman who seems like a wonderful new talent, and well worth following, in my humble opinion. Those would be alternative possibilities that I might have taken into account, should have taken into account, actually, and didn’t. Sorry for taking so long to get back to people, and I have high hopes that my friends here will enjoy Ms. Dennigan as much as I do. She's really something and somebody special, I think. And I hope some consideration might allow folks here to agree. http://www.kenyonreview.org/author/darcie-dennigan/ |
