Okay I'll start with asking a question.

How does a human organ relate to the emotion of love?

I don't think humans really know when the vital organ came to relate to experience of strong affection and attachment. But why does it? We don't have a symbol of sadness, anger, happiness, etc. So why is it that associated? Was it always the symbol of love?

IMO the heart is rather misshaped compared to the common Valentines Day heart.

So why is it that?

Thoughts?

I don't have any conclusive documentation, But I imagine for the same reason that an emotional reaction is often referred to as "visceral".  The emotions that stem from things like love and hate, are very strong and cause physical responses.  Haven't you felt something before so strong it could be described as residing in your chest or stomach?

Yes, I think everyone has before. I might have mistaken it for heart burn if it weren't for the strong emotions. Lol.

I think it has to do with a few things such as blood, blushing, heartbeat, etc increasing and responding to a strong feeling, and the importance of the heart to blood, by analogy being important to a strong affection such as love, as well.

In Hebrew the aph "nose" is associated with anger.   There are quite a few places in the bible where literally "nose" is used for "anger", but the translators don't use "nose" in English, because the English speakers wouldn't think "anger".  The connection here is from the clenching of the nose, flaring nostrils, or redness of the nose when someone feels anger.

I would say the heart is associated with love because of the position of the chakras. The heart chakra is associated with love. Thus, the actual organ is also associated with love.

As Edmund Spenser says about hearts:
Or how comes it that my exceeding heat
is not delayed by  her heart frozen cold,
but that I burn much more in boiling sweat,
and feel my flames augmented manifold? credit: short love poems
so maybe that sheds some like on the chakras and the heart.

Love More.
