The common cliché says that philosophers “live the Question.” This seems to be the case as no definitive work of philosophy has conclusively ended the ongoing philosophical dialogue extending from the distant past into the future. This dialogue has been made possible in many respects by the written work of philosophers. Acting as a foundation upon which to advance change or perspective or even to step back and take another direction in accessing life, each written work of philosophy pertaining to a subject expressive of the human condition serves as a foundational entity in the total body of investigation. It follows that philosophers must write in order to continue the dialogue that speaks for each generation on behalf of its investigation. This is evinced by the differing periods and geographies which are typically affiliated with differing branches of the total investigation, i.e. 20th century existentialism.
