And don't say because

My question is why do we feel the need to question things and people? And why do we finish up with more questions and answers?

Just thought I'd ask one more

The quick answer:

Why did you feel the need to ask this question?

It is the same thing, isn't it?

You are questioning the need to question by a question.

Neat, huh?

Apparently, you can answer it by asking yourself.

I will try to 'answer' the question later but please understand it will only be provisional.

Because, since the beginning of mankind, when we finally pulled ourselves out of the water and crawled to shore, we've been trying to figure out what it's all about!

Because that is the only way we can learn to understand what is around us in this world.  Then again, I believe it was curiousity that killed the cat!!  LOL.

ok i'll stick my two cents in now

to me it seems a natural thing to do, since were here to learn (not sure what ) and to stop us getting bored

I guess my real question was why the need for philosphy? (the question i've never found an anwser to, a least not one that suited me ) Is it so that we can try to understand life better.

Now you see what I mean by getting more questions than awnsers

Well, if philosophy is the search for truth and knowledge, then it seems to me that your statement has answered your own question!

If humans were not seeking answers (continuously asking questions), no change would ever occur, and we would stagnate, and perish.

P.S. We're allowed to take a day off now and then, though.

Yeah I was thinking that, it could answer the meaning on life too.

Maria:

This is an interesting question.  I am beginning to really like the philosophy forum!

First off,

"...why do we finish up with more questions and answers?"

This sounds like a Murphy's Law I know.

"In every solution, there are problems waiting to happen".

In my opinion, the answer lies in our human nature.  OK OK, I know that sounds kinda silly, because your question was about our nature as humans.  But, we, as humans, are very curious.  In fact, in my opinion, we are often too smart for our own good.  Or, in other words, we're so smart that we are dumb.  We invent all sorts of technologies without investigating what harm they might do to us, and then mass produce them.  The a few years later, when the cancer patients come in....

I feel that the need to question things and people is a good thing.  If one wants to get on a spiritual level, in the Bible, Christians are instructed to test spirits.  So, we likely question things both because we are curious and for defensive purposes.

Suppose that a party was elected in the United States, which perpetuated marxist ideals.  What do you think would happen?  Most likely, there would be fears of another comunist revolution.  And then, likely, there would be many questions asked, lol.

And finally, as my mother always maintains, "The more you learn, the less you know."

And while were on that point. Does anyone think where asking too many questions?

Like what I mean is technolgies such as where people clone sheep and stuff like that?

I know this might be a silly thing to quote from, but consider the movie Jurassic Park.  Remember the character Ian Malchom's words?

People are so curious about wheather or not they could, they don't stop and think about wheather or not they should

Genetics is a good thing.  But what frightens me are things like cloning and modifying fetuses.  What if one day we found a way to make our children all Arnold Schwartzenagers[sp]?  What then?  What would happen to the rest of us?  Do you see what I'm getting at?

I would be shot (the first on the firing line). I have plenty of friends in many of these organizations and they've promised me this would happen (they were smiling that serious smile if you know what I mean.)

I never could follow democratic centralism.
