 Webshots Photo ~~**~~ Our love for each other started quite by surprise We knew not what we had longed for was right before our eyes Really liking each other from when we first met Such good friends we became we have found never to regret We laughed and we talked sharing secrets together Then slowly we discovered to be with no-one else had we rather Now over the years much in love have fallen we Our love grows every day and it seems we love perfectly If things unforeseen should cause something to happen to me or you We know that we will have known love in life that was real and true Or if unknown to us now that our days are numbered here We will still be together, my Love so please have no fear For each moment we have spent with each other, my dear Love We have made sweet, precious memories such as we had never known before of A love such as ours is a very rare thing Where just a mere thought will cause our hearts to sing We are always together whether far or near Our hearts bound by love so very special and dear So if I go before you in life or if you should go before me We will still be together for all the rest of eternity ~~**~~ [This message has been edited by garysgirl (05-01-2003 07:16 PM).] |

Ethel, You really do have your "ever after," don't you? It happened unexpectedly? You know, I think the Lord is waiting for me to shake off the stuff of my bad marriage before the "he" of my dreams comes. James, I'm really glad that you enjoyed reading this. Thank you.  . . Patricia, I'm so glad that I am giving you hope. Yes, it really was unexpected. In fact, neither of us were looking for romance when we met. My husband hadn't been dead for very long and he had gone through a painful divorce. We started confiding in each other and eventually fell in love. One really good thing is that we remain best friends, too. I truly believe that the Lord has someone really special for you who will love you the way you deserve. Don't settle for less. I'm sorry that the last one wasn't who he appeared to be. Ethel, this one is so sweet! It really brings with it the hope that true love conquers all.... like a bulldozer, knocking anything that is standing in it's path down.  (big hugggssssssss) Oh Ethel, this made me cry because it saddens me how so many just want someone for lust and selfishness and how I just want someone to feel special and how I so badly want to be a friend to a beautiful girl and make her happy and always be there for her and let her decide with me when she wants to fall in love! Oh, Ethel, you've taken my breath away! I absolutely love this. The first three stanzas really stand out to me, maybe because that is what a friendship of mine is coming to be. I've always believed that a relationship like that should start with a best friend, I'm glad to find someone who doesn't think that's wrong. Thank you so much for this beautiful poem! Thank you, Shlee, for your sweet reply. I'm glad that you related to the poem. Yes, I have found that this is the best kind of relationship there is. When you start out as just friends, and then become best friends, you share your thoughts and feelings so much more, it seems. And then if you do fall in love, you know each other so well. The bond we have between us is stronger than some couples I know who have been together for 30 or 40 years. We really care about the others feelings, too. Well, I'd better hush. I could go on and on about my Honey-Love and I....oh, we've got all kinds of pet names for each other. LOL Hugs and best wishes to you both, Ethel |
