My day will be what I make it
and how I cope with what it may bring
Whatever the situation that arises
it is my choice to cry or sing

If someone says something to me
that does not feel just right
It is my choice whether or not
we will discuss it or will fight

If they decide they want to fight
or if a discussion comes about
I will still be the one to decide
if I want to talk or to shout

If I prefer to discuss
but still a shouting match occurs
No-one else can determine my tone
or how I will choose my words

I have no control of the weather
if I shall see sunshine or rain
Yet I still have control on what
I dwell on that turns into pain

So my days will be what I make them
no-one else will decide for me
If I choose to make them sad
or if I fill them up with glee

Nice thoughts...it always helps if you have good friends around you and healthy relationships...thus less need to argue.
Although when I get on the freeway my frustrations find there voice...James

So true Ethel. The good Lord has given us all a fresh new start with each morning. We have free will to do with it just what we choose. Enjoyed this. hugs, Chris

As I have come to know you through your wonderful poetry, you prefer to sing and banish dark clouds away!
This poem was delightful and was filled with good, sound advice! Oh, you are such a smarty pants, aren't you, Dear Wise One!

Luvs & Hugs,

James, that is so true. But, sometimes people
are in our lives who enjoy arguing. I don't like to.
Try to be good on the freeway...LOL

Chris, that's true. The Lord does give us
free will, doesn't He? Goodness knows, I
make a mess of things with my mouth sometimes.  Thank you, friend.

Linda, I didn't mean to come off like a smarty-pants.  LOL
I wrote this first thing this morning, but had
to leave before I could post it. It was some of my
first thoughts today. And, oh yes, I had lots rather
just push all the neagative things out of my mind
and life and think only of me and Gary.

Actually, I've got a situation with my
deceased husband's sister and her family going
on right now that is really getting on my
nerves.
I can either let the good forces take over or the evil ones.
I would much prefer the good ones. Kindness
and
sweetness to our enemies really seems to get them,
I've found out. It just gets hard to bite my
tongue sometimes. Keep good thoughts for me. Okay?

Hugs,
Ethel

Sweet Suthern Lady, I have had so much awful depression in my life that nothing or no-one seemed to help. I am going through something right now,  (as I mentioned in an earlier reply), that has been getting me really down and will do more so before it's over with......if I let it. I'm trying to get my stubborness and sassiness to come out, because it's  there in me somewhere. It has been out some in my life at times. I just have to really make it come out or I'll let those enemies of mine run over me. They are so mean and hateful that it's hard for me to stand up to what they're trying to do to me. The morning I wrote this poem, I was talking to myself in the words....

Sweet friend, I always look forward to seeing your replies to me. You are so sweet and compassionate. I know that "everybody" knows that, too...

Heart Hugs to you dear friend,
Ethel
