As the birds gather on branches,
And the tides roll inward;
As the sun sinks like a red ship,
And the dusk darkens, cooling,
My heart will reach out to you,
Saying,

'All that you have done,
your love, and your kindness, I
will keep inside of me forever;
I shall never forget you,
however far the years go on;
I will endure, and take joy
from the memory of our
spring together,
forever, I'll
keep your memory

even as the sun sinks
and the grey sea closes'.
