It's a miracle what the earth gives,
From water, sun and seed,
The beauty of flowers that paint the earth,
The food that fills our needs.

I haven't the touch for growing,
But love seeing the garden grow,
Watching the seeds turn into plants,
The miracle of life from soil.

I do my gardening late at night,
Fill my basket with fruits from labor,
Besides it is the safest time,
(Cuz the garden is my neighbor's)

used to do that as a kid... sneak in and "borrow" a few tomatoes or a little produce... lol... water melons of course were fair game, but one had to watch out for rock salt out of a 12 gauge....

may have to sharpen the old stealth skills this year and see if the rewards are as sweet as I remember them to be...

Enjoyed this Toe...

Cpat...that reminds me of the old story about the farmer that had a watermelon patch, and the kids kept stealing his melons...so he posted a sign that read: "I have poisoned one of these melons..steal at your own risk"....one of the Toerag kids posted a sign under his that read: " I too have poisoned one of the melons...have a good day"

Now, Toe, you got me again....I was reading
and thinking that "well, Mr. Buzz has written
us one of those excellent serious poems he's so
capable of doing".   Then, Whammo!!! There you
were saying it's your neighbors garden. You
rascal you. Oh, and on your response to
Capt., Ron's reply you said it was one of the
"Toe kids" I wonder which one??  LOL

This is delightful, Toe. Thank you.
Hugs,
Ethel

Here I am, always trying desperately to dump my Dad's produce on you (so I don't have to deal with it *G*)... and you still have sticky fingers?? LOL It would serve you right if that neighbor labeled a row "hot banana peppers" when they'd really planted the sweet ones. LOL

Wonderful poem, sweets... and I absolutely love your signature!!! Yee-haaa!!!!!

Very cute!  I remember carrying packages of salt all summer and every time I passed a tomatoe (which I felt was on my side of the fence) I ate it!  I have curbed that habit some since I have grown up but not by much

I enjoyed this poem very much.  What is it to live if we can't have a little fun.

Great tale.  Once we kids were warned from a watermelon patch by the sign "There is one poisoned watermelon in this patch."  We didn't think that he'd really hurt us, but we might get sick.  However, one of the kids (wish it was me) thought of our sign: "There are two poisoned melons in this patch."  We finally got to a truce with this grumpy old farmer who turned out to be a father of 6 sons.  Thanks for the trip to my memory lane.  Ken J

Golly,
a pilferer and a poet
why didn’t you just ask to trade a poem for a veggie or two
I’m sure they’d toss a few tomatoes your way

So - you TipToe over at night, do ya???
You'd best take that rag off when you do - What if it gets caught in a gopher trap???

Toerag - how come the veggies always are better in the neighbors garden? By the way beer's in the cooler...
