~ Mermaid Love ~


Alone in the waters, she’s destined to be
Forever without him - this mermaid at sea.
She loves from afar, sees him there on the land
He knows not of her, nor would he understand…

She is beautifully strange, an angel so rare
Never touched by a man, just the tides, salty air.
Alone in her watery world, vast and deep
She dreams of his love, both awake & asleep…

Gentle waves that caress her - she pretends, his embrace
She closes her eyes and imagines his face
Bending slowly to kiss her, fingers run through her hair
It’s a dream though, she knows he will never be there…

She dreams of the chance to touch his soft lips
She closes her eyes, feels his warm fingertips
Tracing softly her face, her brow and her hair -
If their eyes were to meet, could she speak - would she dare?

A sweet sigh from her lips, as her head bows in pain
Tears roll down her cheeks, like a soft salty rain.
