Fragile eggshell souls
are often known to crack wide open
under minimal amounts of pressure,
spilling unique contents.

As if Humpty was a child's game
of no consequence.

And yet, when handled carefully,
these same fragile ones sometimes
prove to be amazingly strong and resilient,
able to stand upright on the edge
of reality’s abundant table,
offering us a new view
of the delicate balancing act
we all seem to go through
at one time or another
on our journey
from nested sheltered birthing
to the final moments.
