Of My Serenity

Within a fire burning low
upon a meadow I have known
the ember’s spark that takes twilight
like fireflies into the night

All around in shadowed tell
the sound of crickets cast a spell
across the hill’s the sound respires
where moon has made her own empire

The inn with bed pine canopy
snuggled with just my sanity
this place brings indigo insight
into the searching of life’s fight

I go into the summer’s day
just knowing that at night I’ll lay
within the dream I build for me
the campfire of my serenity

Oh cool... I should really read more of your work, Martie, 'cause for a minute I thought you were solid free-verse. This is really nice work, the formatting didn't take anything away from your innate skill and talent, and the mastery with which your imagination becomes manifest in verse...
