Why Hides the Night? |

Last night my eyes were heaven bound, To my suprise no stars were found Within my view, how can that be? How can there be no stars to see? Where was the moon's soft golden glow, Splendored orb of night's bestow? It was as if night hid away, The wonder of its jeweled display. Then down to earth my gaze was drawn, I heard a sound across the lawn, I turned to see you dancing there, A goddess fair, beyond compare, Twirling, swirling in the night, On noiseless feet of elfin sprite, I stood transfixed in feet of stone, Amid the night I was alone, As I espied a beauty rare, Angelic face and satin hair, And then I knew why hid the night, The splendor of it's welkin light, Terpsichore and Sisters Seven, On heaven's floor in distant heaven, Were outshone by earthen glow, Of your beauty far below, So ceded night to your exude, The blinding of your pulchritude, You shame the jewels of heaven's night, For you are radiance, my perfect light.
