Mother and Child - Gustav Klimt Upon your smile child I build my hope and strength You, who have been torn from the mud, you are not lingering on hatred instead you smile to me. Tears like walls of waves fill suddenly my eyes. So short a life but already a long memory of pain! A world threatening you because it is blind to your pureness and to your right to live in peace. A fragile creature you are, stretching out your arms and smiling at me! At me, more frail than you! I fear for you, tender petal in the storm! Where are those who can still perceive the fragrance of your innocence? For just a moment I lift you in my arms, enfolding you with warmth. I let you trace a movement of joy within me. A happy song surges from the deepness of my heart, you and me in consonance with the Divine dream of a world resplendent in harmony. Child, with your smile you awaken me from my indifference, my sadness, my anxiety and my negligence do not get weary, child, engrave your symbols of faith and trust on to my heart! And maybe one day not too far away in the future, we shall walk hand in hand, in the same direction, you and me, we and the world towards God, towards the Light towards Love. You and me, we and the world, on the paths prepared by The One Who manifests Himself in your smile, showing us the way …. [This message has been edited by Margherita (04-22-2003 06:15 PM).] |

Margherita, I would say that only a mother would know this feeling, but I would be wrong, for as I continued to read, I could see where a father would say, thank you for writing his heart... and an orphan would say, could you be, my mother? |

I am rarely speechless after reading a piece here in Passions, but right now I cannot find the words. ..for there are no words to express how this beautiful piece made me feel. By far your best I have seen.. By far the best of many I have seen here. ~Smiles & Hugs, Nancy~ ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

Margherita, I was going to copy and paste my favorite part, but couldn't. Why, because the whole poem is my favorite part. This is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read, friend. Thank you for sharing. Hugs, Ethel |

You have touched my heart dear Poet friends with your very generous comments. When our words reach out and stir something within then our mission is fulfilled .... May all children of the world be treated with love and respect! There is too much pain in so many little hearts ... My love to you. Margherita |
